Bio
Hi, my name is Rita. I'm 28 and I live in Lviv, Ukraine. I love cats, as well as other animals. I also love traveling and discovering new places. I have a degree in English linguistics, although I was never really happy working as a linguist, teacher, translator, or content manager. Having been left with only a fairly good knowledge of English, I realized I should become something else. So I got interested in frontend development.
Despite being over-competitive, this sphere offers much more than just a steady career growth and financial stability. It's a challenging yet very creative industry that puts a great emphasis on constant self-development and logic-based mindset. I believe that it is due to my professional background that I chose this path, so I guess it was inevitable after all. I'm looking for a job now, although I keep feeling that my programming skills are still far from being acceptable for the position. But I continue my studies and do better and better every day.
Below, you can learn more about my hobbies and interests that eventually made me the person I am now.
My Hobbies
Here are some things that I love and do in my free time
About
Why I made this
This page was made mainly to practice HTML/CSS, more specifically – Bootstrap. I decided to take a better look at the library’s popular components, such as navbar, carousel, and modal. Making a personal web page was the most suitable solution for the task, but I didn’t want it to be a CV-like personal page, so it eventually turned out to be a more casual alternative.
How it works
In the process, I came up with a few quite strange creative decisions, like putting a carousel inside a card and making another carousel out of a standard Bootstrap modal. As a result, I had to override some of the standard Bootstrap behaviors to make everything work according to my plan.
UX notes and recommendations
I tried to make the interface as intuitive as possible, but there are some
subtleties that may not be obvious to the user at first glance. My Hobbies
section
has a few categories, and the user can switch between them to see respective content
of the each category. How else can you interact with this section?
1. You can click/tap on thumbnails to trigger opening of the modal that will show
you a big-sized version of the image.
2. If you’re using a laptop or PC, you can hover over the large image to see its
caption. If the cursor is outside the image, the caption will not be visible. The
same effect can be achieved from the mobile device, but the user has to tap on the
image to see the caption and tap again to disable it.
3. In the Photography category, only the first image has a caption, while the
rest are
simply there to give you a better look at the pictures.
